Our Activities

Life Groups

Our Life Groups at TKCC have developed over the years to focus on ‘Transformation’. This is not only important, but foundational to us — that life as a Christian is a journey of growth and maturity that develops our faith and character; and transforms us into the likeness of Christ.

The Bible is our guide to loving ‘The One that Matters the Most’ and seeing His fruitfulness showing in our lives individually and corporately. Our faith is not just for ourselves, but our families, our community and our world.

In our Life Groups, we seek to lovingly support and encourage transformation in the Lord’s way, will and time for each of us. For, it is as we allow Him to transform us, we make Him more and more evident to the world around us. May His Kingdom Come!

…if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7)

Supporting one another as we walk by faith the road of life.

Worship

Worship is ‘our very life’ and how we live it is our primary offering of adoration to Christ. Our worshipping desire is to love and submit to Jesus more and more every day. It is the condition of our hearts before the Lord that is important.

However, we do also love to worship the Lord in song at TKCC. At our service on Sunday mornings, we sing contemporary songs (focusing on Jesus) sprinkled with a few ‘old favourites’ and a hymn now and again.

We always have a time in the middle of the worship to pause in the quiet and hear from the Lord. This is where we wait on the Lord to use our spiritual gifts. Whether it be a prophetic word, a vision, a word in tongues to be interpreted or a prayer of faith. All this to give God glory and to build up the church.

…speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:19)

Prayer

Prayer is our lifeline to God. Our communication with Him is critical to life, loving and serving. It is our desire to hear God’s voice and pray what is on His heart in every and all situations.

At TKCC we have several opportunities to pray or receive prayer.

  • Our Intercessors Group that meet together weekly
  • Pre-Service Prayer on Sunday mornings at 940 am
  • Confidential Prayer Chain (a very active one)
  • Personal Prayer at the end of every service – by approved church members
  • Prayer Walks throughout the year in our community
  • Special ‘called’ prayer-meetings

Prayer is also offered via Pastoral Care – at an individually appointed time.
We love to pray!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Events

All throughout the year, our church gets together to celebrate, enjoy each other’s company, work together on special projects and pray!

Some of these events are:

  • Mother’s Day & Father’s Day
  • Good Friday & Easter
  • Christmas Day
  • Prayer Walks
  • Working Bees (we like to keep the place tidy)
  • Ladies Brunch at The Beach
  • Men’s Breakfast
  • CUNZ (Congregational Union of New Zealand) Combined Churches Services
  • Shared Lunches after every Church Meeting (quarterly)
  • Cultural Nights (with amazing food)

Over the past few years, we have had 3 significant building projects. We have put on a new entryway, replaced the toilet block on the church building and put on a new roof of our over 100 year old building. It’s a beautiful place that is very important to us. We are always looking towards the next project to keep her looking good and honouring God.

Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.” (Philippians 2:2)

Children @ 915

We currently have a small Children’s Church contingent – with a huge desire to grow.

We meet every Sunday from 9:15 to 9:55 am. Thus, our name: “915”.

The guiding verse for our Children’s Church is a paraphrase of Isaiah 61:3: “They will be called ‘Kauris’ of righteousness”.

Our lessons have a focus for the Term (4 terms per year) and have practical interactive activities and life application lessons from the Bible.

Our Teachers are Tema & Pam. Tema is a teacher and Pam was a corporate trainer. They have both been vetted by the NZ Police to meet our Health & Safety criteria.

We are of the belief that children belong in the Main Church Service. It is there where they see their parents and other adults worship and respond personally to the Lord.

Our goal is to involve our ‘older’ ones in practical activities during this service where appropriate. This builds inter-generational relationships, serves to ease transition of them into the ‘adult’ service and helps the little ones to learn church etiquette. We give the children practical worksheets to enjoy during the sermon should they need some support for their focus and time.

Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” (Jesus, Luke 18:16-17)
